USA - Delayed launch for Jeff Bezos rocket, Blue Origins
Blue Origin has announced that it will establish a new date for its upcoming launch attempt. The New Glenn rocket was initially set to launch on Friday; however, challenging sea conditions necessitated a postponement.
Just six minutes before Jeff Bezos' rocket was scheduled to launch at 08:15 GMT (03:15 EST), this morning's launch was cancelled.
There was confusion in the newsroom as the 10-minute countdown was repeatedly extended to 35 minutes, while teams in Florida worked frantically to prepare.
Ultimately, time ran out, with Blue Origin attributing the delay to a "vehicle subsystem issue."
We do not yet have information on when the next launch will take place, but Bezos' team has indicated they will explore opportunities for a subsequent attempt.
Named New Glenn after John Glenn—the first American to orbit the Earth—this rocket represents a significant milestone for Blue Origin, as it would have marked their first launch into orbit, as outlined by our science correspondent Pallab Ghosh.
