USA - Nurse jailed for breaking bones of pre-mature babies in ICU
A nurse working in the ICU department for premature born babies has been jailed after it emerged that she had been hurting and breaking the bones of the babies in her care.
Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman was arrested, and charged her with malicious wounding and felony child abuse in a November 2024 incident involving another newborn.
Strotman became a registered nurse in May 2019, according to the Virginia Department of Health Professions – but it is unclear when she began working at the Henrico hospital.
Henrico Police Division refused to confirm how many babies had suffered the ambiguous fractures to The Independent.
Investigators are now looking into a total of seven potential abuse cases at the hospital: three in 2024 and four in 2023.
Strotman is currently being held without bond in Henrico County Regional Jail West, according to booking records. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 24
